ACCREDITED MENTAL HEALTH SCOIAL WORKER | COUNSELLOR
Shannon Edwards
Shannon is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker who provides evidence-based, compassionate support for individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship or attachment concerns. Her approach is warm, person-centred, and grounded in genuine care, with a strong focus on creating a safe and supportive space where clients feel comfortable to explore, reflect, and move forward.
Shannon specialises in working with adolescents (12+), young adults, and individuals seeking greater clarity, purpose, and connection in their lives and relationships. She has a particular interest in supporting mood-related concerns, emotional regulation difficulties, self-esteem and self-worth, life transitions, and relationship challenges. Shannon is passionate about helping clients better understand themselves, build emotional resilience, and develop practical strategies that support meaningful, lasting change.
Her work is informed by a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), attachment-based therapy, and Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT). She also incorporates skills training in emotional regulation, distress tolerance, communication, and coping, ensuring therapy is both supportive and practical.
Shannon understands the courage it takes to begin or return to therapy, and prioritises creating an environment where both mind and body feel safe. She places strong value on the therapeutic relationship, recognising it as the foundation for meaningful change, and works alongside her clients with warmth, respect, and a deep commitment to their wellbeing.
